Frankly Funny Comedy brings top-tier comedy shows to DC, Maryland, and Virginia, giving comedians a stage to shine and venues a way to attract new customers.
We partner with bars, clubs, and unique spaces to host live events in DC, from stand-up showcases to open mic nights that feel a lot like improv classes—giving performers real experience in front of a crowd.
Our goal? To connect people through laughter, support rising talent, and make every show an experience to remember.
Meet the Team
Frankly Funny Comedy was co-founded by Spencer Franco and Angel Penn, two performers with a deep love for making people laugh.
Spencer, with his degree in theater and experience in both improv and stand-up, teamed up with Angel, a well-known figure in the DMV comedy scene who’s worked with some of the biggest names in the business.
What started as a way to book more gigs quickly evolved into a full-fledged comedy production company, supporting new comics and bringing laughter to venues across Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Hey there! I’m Spencer, the guy behind Frankly Funny Comedy.
I’ve been cracking jokes since I was a kid—some good, some, well... let’s just say they didn’t all land. But comedy stuck with me, and when I was going through a tough time, writing jokes became my outlet. Eventually, I realized it was more than just a hobby—it’s what I want to do for a living.
At first, Frankly Funny Comedy was just a way to get booked for more gigs, but it quickly became something bigger—an opportunity to help other comedians find their stage and build their skills. Plus, we discovered that live comedy doesn’t just entertain—it brings people together and attracts customers for businesses. Bring in the audience, and everyone wins!

Angel is the comic who went from being the loudest laugh in the room to grabbing the mic and producing shows all over Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Angel has performed at iconic venues like the DC Improv, Warner Theatre, and DC Comedy Loft. He’s shared the stage with legends like Dave Attell, Russell Howard, and SNL’s Kevin Nealon.
Whether he’s hosting or headlining, Angel’s mission is to grow the local comedy scene and provide support to new comedians.
